Savory Pandesal

 You know what?

I miss it here. I miss writing my thoughts. I guess I will be posting as often as I can again.

By the way, I baked a Filipino bread infused with an American flavor and ingredients, and it was a hit with my regular diners (the mister, the boy, and the boy's brother from a different mother, Christian).

Around New Year the other year, we came to Showroom, a modern American casual restaurant in our town. One of their famous appetizers was this biscuit served with whipped butter and strawberry spread.

... and OMG! It was to die for. In fact, we ordered two servings.

Yesterday, I baked another batch of this pandesal inspired by the biscuit appetizer from Showroom.

Thus, I called this recipe the Showroom Pandesal.

The mister and I had a piece this morning with our cafe latte. I toasted it perfectly this time, served with spreadable butter and strawberry preserve from my favorite local brand called McCutcheon's.

It's Time to Dig in!

Last Friday late afternoon, I made sure not to forget to buy a pack of pecan nuts at the grocery store. I have been wanting to bake sticky cinnamon pecan buns for a long time.

And yes! This will be my first time making this. I made monkey bread many years ago, but I didn't make the dough for that one, and I find it too sweet. The dough wasn't as soft as I wanted it to be.  This time, I already know by heart how to make the dough from scratch.

I planned on starting the dough right after dinner but I almost forgot about that plan. I was catching up with three of my beautiful close girlfriends from college---Yvette, Annaj, and Dali via Facebook messenger.

I started making the dough 15 minutes past 10 pm, and finished it half hour past 1 am.

This was my Sticky Cinnamon Pecan Buns.

I shared a couple of photos of this on my Instagram account, and captioned it,
"I honestly regretted baking bread late at night. Should I wait for the morning latte or dig in now?" #homebaking #homebaker #foryoureyesonly
Of course, I held myself from having a piece. I went up to bed after I was done baking.

By morning, the mister woke me up. He was acting as if he was in a hurry.

"Let's go!" he told me while I was still cozying up under the cover.

"Ha?" It's the weekend, and still wanting to stay in bed. I felt him sitting at the side of my bed.

"LET'S GO!" He said it louder this time, while softly patting my left thigh.

"To where?"

"It's time to dig in!"

"Dig in what?"

"You forgot? It's time to dig in!"

He stood up, and headed out the door.

"I'll start making latte." Then he closed the door behind him.

Oh yeah! After I heard the latte part, I knew I was completely awake.

He told me that when he saw my new post on Instagram, he got up and woke me up.

The dig in!

Guess what!? It passed the taste test!

The mister finished the last 2 pieces the following day.

On Sunday evening, I made another batch of bread.

We mostly have homemade bread with our coffee in the morning especially on work or school days. As much as  possible, I find time to make them because it's therapeutic for me. It's my kind of a stress reliever. It makes me happy.

Until next post, and hey, I heart you for stopping by. Good night and good morning!

P.S. I just pulled a tray full of freshly baked Moringa pan de sal out of the even. It's 12:05 am. Got to go! It's time to catch some Zzzzz! :)

Hi

It's been weeks already since I left Facebook. I haven't been updating Instagram too. Been soooo busy with work, and loving it. I sold a few pieces in my shop to be used for TV shows and a movie. Ain't that great?

Aside from work, on my me-time, I have been reading a lot, watch international movies and TV series, listen to old records, and write handwritten letters too. This was life before I got sucked into Facebook and other social media.

My life has never been better.

Chuvaness tweeted this link today, QS World University Rankings® 2016-2017 today. Check #21! It's King's College of London. The young lady went to that school for a semester last year.

Remember Eduard? Well, he told the young lady that that school wasn't a good school at all, and it's considered a low ranking community college in London.

Hehehe.

I tried to ignore the print on her shirt, but I just couldn't! (as seen on Taiwanese drama, Just You episode 29. Her shirt says, "YOU ONLY LIVE ONES."

I have been baking too. A whole lot. I'm sending (via the mister's colleague) a pack of freshly baked moringga pan de sal to a friend in Virginia one of these days, plus an extra pack of ube-filled soft bread too. She'll be surprised. I hope.

I got to go. I need to ship some items today.

Until next time. I heart you for stopping by.
