Dutch Baby Pancake

At last, after some time, I finally decided to make this.

I searched for the 5-star rating recipe, with very few ingredients, and quick to make. I also took notes from reviews.

I thought the mister wouldn't wait for this since he was already downstairs when I came down to prepare breakfast last Saturday. He said that he'd wait to start making our lattes until I would tell him that the pancake is almost ready.

Tadah!

My very first Dutch Pancake topped with blueberries and bananas, sprinkled with sugar.

This was so easy to make, and recipe is definitely a keeper.

Today, I will make another one but with savory topping for our dinner.

Lucky!

"Aren't we lucky that we can enjoy lattes at home?" I told the mister one morning.

Most people I know only gets their cup of latte when they go to coffee shops.

"No, you're lucky!" he answered.

He's the one who can only make it at home. I only know how to do the pour over coffee. He taught me how to do it when he was sick.

"But you're luckier! What's your latte without my bake goods!"

This is our usual morning---Latte and homemade ube ensaymada. Since I started making this kind of Filipino bread, my moringa pan de sal isn't his favorite anymore. It used to be Spanish bread, and it changed when I started making pan de sal.

I'm back.

I can not promise though that I am back for sure to regular programming. There are events, stories and other things that I'd rather share here than in my Facebook account or Instagram.

How is everyone?

I am doing good. Oh! Not really a 100%-good good. I had upset stomach for three days already. It was my fault though. Last Sunday, I ate pork barbecue for dinner. I should have eaten it with a salad or fresh fruits, and just ate a few bites of it, but I didn't. I had a lot. For every bite I took, a voice in my head kept telling me that this would happen. I should have listened to it. Grrr!

I did enjoy that dinner but the body is miserable for days. The pain of regret! Never again!

Anyway, the mister has been working hard on his latte art.

"YOUR LATTE IS READY!", he yelled from the kitchen while I was still in bed upstairs last Saturday morning. Honestly I didn't want to get up yet but I knew he wouldn't stop yelling until I get down. That day's agenda was gardening.

... HOWEVER, THE PANDESAL ISN'T TOASTED YET!, he yelled again.

See! I told you! He'd find a reason for me to get down. I baked malunggay (moringga) pandesal before I went to bed that night. He makes the coffee, I toast the bread. That is always the arrangement.

On my way down while trying to put on my red vintage robe (actually it's an old lady's long cardigan), I yelled back.

WHAT'S YOUR LATTE ART TODAY? GHOST?

NO!, he yelled back.

MOON?

NO!

LEAF?

NO!

VAGINA?

NO!

KIDNEY?

NO!

LIVER?

NO!

LUNGS?

NO!

No? That's odd! Everytime he serves his coffee, I would always try to decipher what his latte art would be! If it looks like a ghost, then it is a ghost. If he wanted to make a tulip but it looked like a kidney, then it's a kidney. Hehehehe. It has been like that from the time he started making latte at home.

"It's a heart!"

Wow! It doesn't look like anything else but a heart indeed.

Until next time. I heart you for stopping by.

PS. Thank you for all your comments in my previous post.

I love it a Latte!

I tagged along with the mister on Saturday for a photoshoot for Gravel & Grind. It was for the shop's magazine feature. I do not know what publication though. I'll let you know when I do.

I loved coming along with him to this part of town for the antique shops and thrift stores. I was browsing at an antique mall when he called me to hurry up because my latte is getting cold. I ran back to the coffee shop, of course.

I had my latte outside the shop. The weather was perfect last weekend. While lounging in their bathtub-turned-loveseat, I asked the mister to take a photo of me, and told him that I'll take care of the perfect pose.

PAK! Just one take!

Perfected it!

Kidding. Hahahaha!

P.S. Let me take you back to 2009. Listen to Yna and her bestfriend's Sammy's first song composition back when they were 14. It's "I Love You a Latte!"
