Just this evening after dinner, the mister said he'd like to have coffee, and asked me if I would want a cup too. I said yes, of course.
I was lounging in the living room watching the last episode of an Asian drama. The boy was sitting beside me too watching a video on YouTube on his phone. Then, I heard the mister in the kitchen...
"'Lian, asa ang takuri? ('Lian, where's the kettle?)
"Naa gipatong sa stove." (It's on top of the stove.)
"Wa diri oy!" (It's not here!)
So, I stood up, went to the kitchen and pointed at the kettle. It's about 18" inches away from him. I went back to the living room again when...
"Asa ang kape gipalit nato ganina?" (Where's the coffee we bought earlier?)
I stood up again, gave him the bag of roasted coffee beans. I went back to the living room again.
"Asa ang gunting?" (Where's the kitchen shears?)
"Naa dapit sa takuri, ibabaw sa plato!" (It's near the kettle, on top of a plate!)
"Asa gud?" (Where?)
So, I stood up again, got the kitchen shears, which was located about a foot away from him. I thought I could watch my show peacefully after that when...
"'Lian, asa ang trivet?" ('Lian, where's the trivet?")
"Naa sa first shelf sa may kitchen cart." (It's on the first shelf on the kitchen cart.)
OH MY GAWD! I really think I was being punked!
I'm going to get the mister next time!

I love it a Latte!
I tagged along with the mister on Saturday for a photoshoot for Gravel & Grind. It was for the shop's magazine feature. I do not know what publication though. I'll let you know when I do.
I loved coming along with him to this part of town for the antique shops and thrift stores. I was browsing at an antique mall when he called me to hurry up because my latte is getting cold. I ran back to the coffee shop, of course.

I had my latte outside the shop. The weather was perfect last weekend. While lounging in their bathtub-turned-loveseat, I asked the mister to take a photo of me, and told him that I'll take care of the perfect pose.
PAK! Just one take!

Perfected it!
Latte model for Gravel & Grind!
Kidding. Hahahaha!
P.S. Let me take you back to 2009. Listen to Yna and her bestfriend's Sammy's first song composition back when they were 14. It's "I Love You a Latte!"

Coffee and Maamoul
Okay. Moving on from the stripper heels hoopla.
The mister and I dropped by at the Gravel & Grind on Friday afternoon after a 4-mile hike at the Catoctin Mountain Park. I wanted something cold and a pastry called maamoul that I saw earlier in the week at a fellow Fredericktonian's instagram account, Berto . This one. I also wanted to try their The Johnny Cash -- Nutella, orange blossom water with cold espresso.

The mister wanted me to try their toast with cheese, tomatoes and basil leaves, but I chose maamoul. I have never heard of it, and I wanted to find out if there's filling in it. It looked like it does.

The Johnny Cash was something new. I loved it. I never knew that the taste and smell of orange is really good with coffee. Compare to the Horchado that the mister got that day, we loved The Johnny Cash more. The ma'amoul was really lovely too. It's filled with dates and at the bottom were pistachios.

There's more that I wanted to try in their coffee special menu like their Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Maple Chico, and maybe that toast that the mister kept insisting me to try. I'd like to have their Faux Not Pho again too. The mister brought me a cup one time I didn't come along with him to the coffee shop.

Frederick Coffee Company
Yesterday morning after we dropped off the boy at school, the mister and I had a random breakfast date in downtown. In the 13 years of living in Frederick, honestly, this was the first time I've been to this cafe. All I know about this shop is the son of the owner was a 9th-grade art classmate of the young lady, and that there is an open-mic/talent-night on Tuesdays (or was that Thursdays?).
Independent cafes that we've been to in this part of town have a certain feel in their interiors. It's just homey and warm.

The long table in the middle of the dining area was reserved for the Frederick Coffee Club. I asked the mister why he didn't apply as a member for the club, and then I saw senior gentlemen sat in the reserved table who had only coffee. Maybe in 25 years or more, he can sit in with those guys!

An espresso for the mister.

Oinkin’ Rooster Bagel (scrambled egg, sausage, swiss cheese, and honey mustard served on an everything bagel . $5.99)

This was just half of the bagel. The mister wiped out the other half already.
Oh! Look at that butterfly sticker that covers the sip-hole of the disposable coffee cup lid.

I had a small cup of Best Sky Mocha Latte.
French Toast Fork Sandwich (French toast with cream cheese, sausage, and scrambled egg; topped with sweet syrup, and finished with powdered sugar . $5.99)

I really loved their bread. This was a first one for me---a French toast sandwich! This was really good, but I would really liked it if I had the liberty to pour my preferred amount of syrup in it.
It was yesterday that I had the best mocha latte in town, and I loved their bagel sandwich too. The honey mustard was perfect in it!
