Puto

This is a piece of puto topped with a slice of cheese. It is one of the many variations of the popular steamed rice cakes in the Philippines. Our friend, Jenny made it for Christmas day gathering. I brought some home.  puto

This is Sammy. She's an AMEX, a Mexican born in America. (I made Amex up. I don't know how Mexican Americans are called. Like Filipinos in America, we are FilAms.) She speaks fluent Spanish too. She's the best friend of the young lady. She calls me Tita, and the mister, Tito like how Filipinos call their friends' parents. She is the boy's Ate Sammy. On December 26, she came over to exchange gifts with the young lady. The mister and I gave her a gift too. We give gifts to our human cubs' best friends on Christmas.

I always feed people who come to our house. I even gave freshly baked French macarons made by Yna to the plumber who fixed our clogged pipe the other year. When Sammy came, I gave her food like I always do.

Me: Sammy! Have some puto!
Sammy: What?!

We all laughed when I made her try puto. Hehehe. You know why?

...because in Spanish, puto is a derogatory term for a male prostitute.

P.S. I'd like to apologize to her parents because I gave her puto. A truly mouthwatering one.
