"Good thing you're not wearing a gown?" She said it in a very low voice.
"Why? What's wrong with it?"I looked around, looked at all the ladies, and was honestly wondering what about it. They all looked beautiful.
"It didn't say in the invitation that it was a formal event! That's why I didn't choose a gown."She laughed.
"But is there something in the invitation that says you can't wear one?"But even it required to wear gown, I don't think that would look good on me.
Last Saturday was the mister's 20th year in the company. It was also the company's 50th year celebration held at The Willard Intercontinental Hotel in Washington DC. It's just sad that the founder passed away in January of this year (read about it here). It would be wonderful if he was at the event.
Like always, I planned on wearing something handmade from the shop. Handmade by me. The plan was something Filipino. And like always, I forgot that November and December are the busiest times for online shopping.
I aborted the plan, and decided on going with my plan B --- wear something from my closet.
It is also not stated in the invitation that you can NOT repeat outfits from previous events.
So I did.
2009

Bought the dress at a department store for my first office party of the mister that we attended together. I always love the classic, so I chose this black full skirt dress with overlap front V neck bodice.
Wore it with a thrifted Banana Republic cardigan.
2013, also at the CPI's (45th) Anniversary held at the Willard Hotel

Wore it with a red cropped cardigan from Mod Cloth.
2014

Wore it with:
- vintage 50s beaded cardigan from my shop.
- reversible leather belt (the other side is black)
- red open toe shoes from my closet
- microbeaded bag from my shop
Although not at an office event, wore the dress again for a New Year's party.

Same ensemble as above except for the black wide belt, and silver 50s hand bag.
2017

Same ensemble as above photo except for the different vintage 50s microbeaded bag, and the fur trimmed cardigan.
...and this year's something Filipino---TADAH!
2018

Wore the dress with:
- a black embroidered alampay
- Magnolia enamel brooch from June22
- vintage 50s gold purse
- Nine West suede shoes
- reversible belt (same belt as 2014)
I know that no one will notice it, but the mister and I always try to coordinate our outfits in events like these.
Yes! The title of this post is correct. I am beautiful.

Congratulations to the mister!
