I have been blogging since probably in the early 2000. I started publishing posts on Friendster, Multiply, Live Journal, Tumblr, and then I decided to stay on Blogspot. This has been my home since 2007.
I've met a lot of bloggers in these platforms. Some left marks, and most were forgettable. Some were famous, and many were commoners. Some stopped publishing posts, and less than five of them stayed.
But there is this one blogger whose comments I look forward to. I love reading his posts too. It's mostly about his travels, his garden, his experiences as a teacher, and his thoughts.
Last year (or was that late part of 2016?), I noticed him signed off. No more blog posts. I really wondered if he was okay---physically and emotionally. I wondered if he was still in a relationship with his boyfriend. Then early this year, I haven't noticed his presence on Facebook anymore. He added me as his friend years ago. I treasured his comments, and sometimes we would exchange messages privately. I thought we became friends.
Today, I learned he is still alive on Facebook and Instagram. Sadly, I am not part of his online existence anymore.
I think I am fine with his decision, but I felt a little hurt. I look forward to his thoughts, and honest comments in my posts.
But I understand, even in real life, people come and go. We live and die. That is also true with friendships and relationships, there is a hello and goodbye.

that is sad
Sir Jo... I hope magbukas ulit ang blog nya...
It's true. I've been blogging since 2007. Started in Friendster. Then Wordpress. And finally settled here in blogspot. I believe that 2010 was the golden age of blogging. There was a lot of things going on in my circle of bloggers- healthy and productive competitions, all those creativity flowing around, bloggers collaborating on various writing projects, publishing books, and they even founded an outreach program.
I was quite active back then. I used to post long comments on other blogs, because that was my form of blogging- being an epal. LOL!
It's quite sad to see that there are only 5 or less of us remaining. Blogging is really not easy and you really need to work for it to keep it good and entertaining, informative and helpful to other bloggers and readers.
Now when people say bloggers, they refer to FASHION bloggers who have more pictures of their #ootd and five sentences with gross grammar and spelling. And then we have the political bloggers who doesn't really share opinion but twist facts, revise history, and promote a cheap political culture of mud-slinging.
Anyway, why don't you try to send him a message? Sir Jo's blog is nice and so full of positivity that I sometimes vomit rainbows after reading his entries. LOL! I am not much of a positive person.
Anyway, there's hope for blogging. As long as there will be readers. Let us just keep putting good, entertaining, and informative content and our culture is still going to live on for the next 100 years.
I agree with you about bloggers nowadays. Most of the famous ones I followed don't post personal posts anymore. Puro sponsored posts na lang.
I respect people when they stay away or choose to completely cut me off from their lives. I will miss them, but no, I will not contact them. :D
I love blogging. I love to chronicle my life, and read the old posts when I can. I also love to see also if I have improved as a writer. Hahahaha.
Hey. Keep blogging. I love you being an Epal. :D
