I got a Shakok!

Last night, the mister came home with a special delivery---a Shakoy ni Kikok but I usually call it Shakok for short. He said he already ate his share while still at work. Shakoy, by the way, is a Filipino twisted fried donut sprinkled with sugar, usually eaten as a merienda or mid-afternoon snack.

The Shakok is from our friends, Rhett and Dinah. Rhett is the mister's colleague.

I didn't expect this, and again I was pleasantly surprised. This wasn't the first time we got something from them. In fact, this was our second time shakoy recipient.

I was really tempted to eat my share after dinner last night, but I held myself. I decided to have it with my latte this morning, and every bite was heartwarming and truly reminded me of home.

I genuinely think that the mister and I are blessed with wonderful friends. Those friends that even though you seldom see each other, they always think of you.

Today's latte affair came with my share of the special Shakok, Puff pastries filled with fresh bananas and Nutella (the rectangular shape), and brie cheese, fig spread, and slivered almonds (the triangular shape). Hey, the pastry isn't homemade but these yummy filled goodies are assembled in my kitchen. Hehehehe.

Happy Hump Day everyone!
