The Weekend

I hope you enjoyed your long weekend celebrating the 239th birthday of America. I know I did. Saturday, we spent the afternoon at a friends' backyard, at the Pastor's, together with a few of our other friends. The day was perfect--not too warm and not too muggy. We had fried chicken, beef brisket, steamed Maryland crabs, chocolate cupcakes, cassava cake, margaritas and beer. We ate like kings that day and after we did, we all decided to go to McDonalds which is just a stone's throw away, and surprised Bea, one of the daughters of the Pastor's who was working that day.

The place was quiet and only the crew was there. There were nine of us, and like disciplined citizens, everyone fell in line for a dollar ice cream cone. But since Bea was assigned at the drive-thru, we refused to order unless she was the cashier. Hehehe. Going there was very spontaneous that most of us forgot our wallets. Well, except for Cheska, the older sister of Bea, and she willingly answered the bill for nine ice cream cones. Thanks, Ches!

We kept on teasing Bea even at the drive-thru. By sundown, we all gathered in their backyard for fireworks. We're so glad it didn't rain that day.
