Yesterday, while dining in a Vietnamese restaurant at mid-afternoon, I noticed the songs they always play. It is always instrumental piano.
I learned from the mister that public places such as restaurants cannot play copyrighted music or else they'll be fined. It would be considered a public performance if they played such licensed works.

I've never heard of this type of license until the mister pointed it out.
He added that restaurants must acquire public performance licenses for them to play copyrighted music during business hours.
