We had a get-together with a few friends on Saturday late afternoon for Yna and Sammy's high school graduation celebration. First on that day was grocery shopping at Giant Eagle and at the Asian Supermarket. The mister and I also had a quick trip to the farmers' market for fresh herbs and fruits.
We saw from a vendor "Makahiya" plants at the farmer's market. It was labeled "Sensitive plant" and a small pot was $3.00. I wanted to buy a pot but the mister said it had thorns. I wanted to plant them in the backyard but I am not even sure if it is an annual or a perennial plant. I got really excited when I saw these plants. I remember back in my childhood, during the summer in my parent's hometown, my playmates and I would intentionally touch these plants at the side of the road and enjoyed observing them close up.
Congratulations girls!
By the way, I wasn't kidding when I said that mosquitoes attract Yna. See that big bug bite on her forehead?
Cake from Giant Eagle, fresh rosettes from my garden and handmade cake toppers by Yna.
Oh yeah. Barbecue, lechon kawali, kinilaw, battered shrimp, homemade sushi, leche flan and halo-halo. Swimming, catching up with friends, and more.
By evening, the mister lit the fire pit. We shared stories and the kids had s'mores. The night got a bit chilly so we all gathered a little closer to the fire.
Hope your weekend was just as fun as ours.
P.S. Sunday (Father's Day) was spent cuddling in the living room while watching movies. I did some gardening too.

Makahiya is so common in the Philippines. It's everywhere.
I am planning to buy a pot so my children can also experience touching and see it closes up.
