Lazy Fish

The young lady came home for her birthday. The boy is always looking forward to when his big sister comes home. Although it was short, we are happy we get to spend time as a family. For her birthday, she invited her best friend, Sammy who will also be celebrating her birthday by the end of the month. Time flies so fast. Both young ladies are 19 already.

We decided to try the new Japanese restaurant in downtown. The mister heard good reviews about it. It's located on the second floor of Sumittra Thai Cuisine, our number one choice for Asian food in that part of town.

The place was packed when we came in. It was about a 15 to 20 minutes wait for a table. It is cozy, and the interior is not your traditional Asian restaurant. No fish tanks or large framed Asian prints on the walls. It has the same color scheme as with the restaurant downstairs, orange and black.

We were the only Asian diners by the time we were there. I am not sure though, but the manager at Sumittra was working in this Japanese place. Maybe, both restaurant have the same owners. Actually, I am not sure if he is the manager. I just assumed that he is since he's not dressed like the other staff. He was not wearing a black shirt but a dark gray long sleeves button down shirt. He was also the manager at Sumittra on that Valentine's Day weekend night that he gave us a table even without a reservation. The place was packed that night, plus they gave us a free Thai coffee creme brûlée dessert. Remember this dining experience at Sumittra? It was unforgettable especially for my children since the dessert was to die for.

Yuzu-rita (Jose Cuervo, Pama, Yuzu Juice, Simply syrup, salt-rime rim . $9)
Untitled

Red Fox Amber Ale . $6
Untitled

Tuna Tartare (black caviar, lemon-mint sauce, spicy ponzu vinaigrette, pine nuts, mango served with wonton chips . $14)
Untitled

Braised Pork Belly (beer braised, Asian spices, roasted pepper and pineapple sauce, purple cabbage . $9)

This tasted like the Filipino braised pork from the Visayas region called Humba, except it is presented in a fancy way. I think that black garnish is fried kale. The mister disagreed with me and said it's nori. Nori is not curly, that's why I am sticking with the fried kale. The serving of pork sat on a grilled pineapple which sat on top of the purple cabbage. The sauce was a combination of the saltiness of the braised pork, and the sweet juice of the pineapple. We ate every morsel of this dish.

Lazy Spider (soft shell crab tempura, asparagus, ginger, spicy tuna, black tobiko, lemon-mint sauce, teriyaki sauce . $16) We ordered two of this dish.

Silly Sally (seared cajun salmon, asparagus, eel tempura, eel sauce, black tobiko . $16)
Untitled

Shark Tank (spicy tuna, avocado, seared pepper tuna, spicy ponzu aioli, tempura flakes . $13)
Untitled

Lazy Shack (shrimp tempura, creamy crab meat, masago, avocado, scallions, teriyaki sauce . $14)

The food was all soooo delicious. It was not just pleasing to the eyes presentation wise, but it was oh so orgasmic. It was worth the price, and the service was wonderful.

We can't wait to go back. I give Lazy Fish five perfect stars!

There is indeed an Asian restaurant invasion in downtown, and we all love them.

It's a good thing I am eating something yummy while reading this post. I cannot do a post about food since I don't go to fancy restos. But kudos to Lazy Fish for being a great place to eat. A family that eats good food together, goes home with smiles and praises.

Ang saya naman ng family bonding :)

Gustong-gusto ko po yung paggamit niyo ng mga linyang "the young lady", "the boy" and "the mister" kapag tinutukoy po ninyo ang inyong anak at asawa sa inyong mga blogpost. Parang ang cool at nice. Ganun :)
