The young lady was making Omurice for the boy for his early dinner last night. She still wanted to cook after finishing the dish, so I told her to cook dinner for me. I just felt like so much special yesterday. Hehehe.
Anyway, I asked her to make Korean Beef. She doesn't eat meat but she still said yes to the task. Recipe is adapted from here.
You'll need:
1 Tablespoon sesame oil
1 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic (or about 3 small cloves)
1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 cup brown sugar (or another quarter cup more, depending on how sweet you want it)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon fresh minced ginger
1 teaspoon crushed red peppers or red pepper flakes (or more, depending on how spicy you want it)
salt and pepper to taste
1 large stalk green onions, diced
not in the photo: sesame oil, salt and pepper
What to do:
In a medium to large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Then add garlic and ground beef, and cook until brown. Drain and remove most of the fat and add soy sauce, crushed red pepper, salt and pepper to taste, ginger, and brown sugar. Simmer for a few minutes until all the liquid and the flavors combine and settle. Serve over steamed rice and top with green onions.
Tadah!
...and today, I am still treated like a prima donna by the young lady. She made me Korean Beef omelet for lunch with the left overs from last night.
Mangaon na 'ta! (Let's eat!)
