Although our wedding anniversary dinner was suppose to be on a Saturday but Yna is in Phantom Of the Opera. So we postponed it again the following day. We found out that a new Thai resto in town opened already and decided to try it and cancelled the reservation in another restaurant.
Years ago, we've tried Benjarong Thai Restaurant in Rockville but the experience was forgettable. The interior was just like any other Asian dining place. The service was fine and the food was just Okay. I don't even remember what we ate there. I'm sorry! This is just my opinion.
Here we go!
This pink suede leather shoes took me ...
...to Sumittra Thai Cuisine in downtown Frederick last Sunday.
The moment we entered the restaurant and even before we were seated, I saw a long lost friend, Oiy. She's Thai. I met her back in 2003 and lost contact with her in 2004. So glad to see her again.
This place was a bakery before, the Proof Bakery.
There's Oiy in the corner. I love how they used mirror in one wall to make the space look wider and bigger.
Hi!
Thai Iced Tea
Lemon water. Some restaurant water tastes like a hint of chlorine. This does not. :)
Appetizers were:
Garden Roll - Rice paper wrapped shrimp, vegetable, mango and rice noodles served with peanut hoisin sauce
Sumittra Wrap and Roll - deep fried tofu skin wrapped shrimp and crabmeat served with sweet plum sauce
Then, we had:
Pad Pak - stir fried mixed vegetable with brown sauce
Kow Pad - Thai style fried rice with egg, onion, tomato and shrimp
Panang - Rich red curry with coconut milk and kaffir lime leaf and chicken. This was spicy but tolerable.
Lovely detail on how they serve their food.
Around 7:00 PM, the place was packed with diners.
Hi, again. We're waiting for more food.
I love the interiors and the ambience of this place. It's current and well thought of.
Oh! By the way, the place opened just days ago, March 31st.
All the food was oh so good. We can not pass on the dessert, of course.
We had:
Banana Tempura with Raspberry Ice Cream.
Croissant Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream
Sangkaya Thai Custard
We ordered 4 different desserts but Jay thought it was too much so we took one dish home.
Here's the other dessert.
Kow Niew Mamuang Sticky Rice with Mango. This tasted like the Filipino Malagkit with ripe mango.
We loved everything but there are just dishes that we love to eat again. The Sumittra Wrap and Roll, Croissant Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream, the chicken curry, the fried rice and the mixed vegetables were loves. :)
